Clawson's Drift is bolted to Phobos, which is less a moon than a warehouse the solar system left unattended. The annex pulls tin ore out of the regolith, rolls a share of it into food contact plate on site, and cuts bonded absorbent clay from the pit on the anti-Mars side. Three commodities, one dock, no ceremony.

The Drift is named for the surveyor cat who first slept on the site and refused to be moved, which under company staking law constituted a claim. The plaque says so in exactly those words.

It is a working station in the plainest sense: the corridors are conduit, the coffee is adequate, and the ore never stops. Pilots hauling plate out of the Drift feed every cannery line at Jupiter, and the schedule board reminds them of this hourly.
